Spring Cleaning In Your New Home

It’s that time of year again when the weather perks up and the flowers begin to bloom. It’s spring, and that means it’s time to crack open your windows and grab your cleaning supplies for a good old Oklahoma spring cleaning session! If you’ve undergone new home construction in Oklahoma you may think that you can skip the spring clean in your new home, but that's not the case! You’ll forge a deep connection with your new home and really get to know all its curves and crevices just by giving it a thorough clean. Are you ready? Here are some easily forgotten spots you should tackle this spring!
Your Cabinets And Shelves
Cabinets and shelving can accumulate a huge amount of dust and dirt over a short period of time, so even in a new home, you should try to give these items a good dusting. If you’ve undergone new home construction in OKC and have just moved in, you’ll definitely want to wipe around all cabinets and worktops as construction work can leave a lot of dust and debris. Kitchen cabinets need cleaning both on the inside and outside, as grease can build up on the outside due to cooking while dust can build up on the inside. Don’t forget to clean the handles on your cabinets too as sticky greasy fingers can leave your handles feeling yucky! Go round your house and dust every shelf, even the hard to reach ones, to make sure your home is dust-free.
Your Fridge Freezer
It’s always good to clean out your fridge freezer every few months to make sure everything in there is in date and looking fresh. Make sure to wash down the inside of your fridge, including the shelves and the door compartments. Give the outside of your fridge freezer a quick wipe down too as it’s easy to leave greasy fingerprints and grime on fridge handles and doors. While you’ve got your fridge freezer empty, go through all your food and throw out anything that’s not in date. If your freezer is looking a bit too frosty, get a scraper out and remove any frost build-up so your freezer is looking more in shape. You’ll be surprised at how much more room you’ll have once you give your fridge freezer a good clean, too!
Your Oven
Whether you’ve been in your new home for 5 weeks or 5 months, you should keep an eye on your oven to make sure it’s not getting too dirty. A muck-covered oven is a nightmare to clean and often involves some pretty harsh chemicals to clean and a good few hours of time, too. To avoid having to use up your precious time cleaning out your oven, make sure you give it a good wipe every few weeks. Clean the oven door to remove any grease splashes, scrape out any food that has dropped into the oven, and give the grill and the shelves a good scrub to make sure everything is looking sparkly and new again. Doing this regularly will save you from having to buy a chemical oven cleaning kit.
