Moving can be a big challenge, and getting organized is the first step in preparing for a new year in your new home. If you are moving into a new home, here are a few tips to help you along your way and make your transition an easy one.

Have a Plan
This might sound simple, but having a plan is the best possible start to your move. A plan should include an assessment of your belongings so you can determine how big of a truck you will need to move, how many boxing or moving containers you will need, and how much time you should a lot for your move. Make a list of things to do and who to call to be sure everything is ready to go on the day of your move. You will need to let any movers know the date of your move well ahead of time, so take into account the date you can move in to your new home, as well as the distance it will take to drive.

Make a Budget
When considering how you are going to move, whether or not to use movers, rent a truck, or tackle it with friends and family, you will need to assess your budget. Moving trucks and movers can be quite costly, especially when moving long distances. Call around for pricing on different aspects of the move and determine what best fits into your budget before committing to anything. The last thing you want to do is add another expense that could have been avoided.

Start Early
